January 2006 MCS meeting minutes  (Previous Page)

The January 19, 2006 meeting began at 7:00 PM in the Richland library with 7 members
present. There were no minutes as the previous meeting was a flying session only.
The treasurer's report was given by the president as the treasurer was absent.

A club check was given to Kirby to pay for the AMA sanction of this year's Sun Fly.
The date of the Sun Fly was moved back one week to July 8 and 9 in hopes of better
attendance and to prevent conflict with other NW events. No woody class will be
flown this year. Trophy cups were commissioned from the same source as last year
with exact wording and pricing to be determined.

There was much discussion of the Eagle Butte insurance problem. The AMA has been
no help and may actually be hindering a successful resolution. Doug and Jay have
spent a lot of time searching for answers but unearthing only bureaucratic indifference.
Joe, Doug, Jay, and Kirby will continue by taking our plight before the modeling
community in general and more private insurance companies. But, as for now,
March 31 will be the last legal day of slope soaring at Eagle Butte.

Pending the insurance resolution, no club fees will be collected and no new club
cards will be issued. The March combat match will be held, but possibly no fees
will be charged there either. Don will keep Kirby updated for combat information
on the web site.

The NWSS will have a table at the Puyallup modeling exposition again this year
(Feb 3,4&5). Hopefully, some support may be garnered there concerning the Eagle
Butte Problem.

Doug will update the club phone and email lists and provide them to Kirby for
posting on the web site.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.
